Pigments the decayed dentin in a dark blue colour, contrasting strongly with healthy dentin. Decayed dentine consists of two distinct layers:
- a first outer layer of carious dentin - soft, discoloured, devital, non-sensitive, without the possibility of remineralisation. This layer is pigmented by Snoop in only 10 seconds and must be removed.
- A second layer is carious dentin, vital and sensitive, uninfected but with the ability to remineralize. This inner layer is not pigmented by Snoop and should not be removed.
