ViscoStat from Ultradent is a ferric sulphate (20%) haemostatic in the form of a viscous gel.

ViscoStat has a pH of 1.0 and contains silicon dioxide to limit acidity and to be gentle on hard and soft tissues. This haemostatic solution can be used in a variety of procedures in oral surgery to stop bleeding of surface capillaries. Such procedures are present in prosthodontics, restorative-operative treatment, periodontal treatment etc.

ViscoStat can also be used in the prevention of retrograde fillings, gingivectomies and can have a "fixative" role in pulpotomies.

You can use ViscoStat to prevent infiltration caused by contamination of sulcular fluid during direct adhesive procedures. Soak an Ultrapak retraction thread in the haemostatic agent and isolate the tissue, then use an air/water spray.
