A super treatment for endodontic accidents and complications

Indications:

Treatment of root canal perforations and fissures caused accidentally or by carious lesions

Periapical surgery with retrograde fillings

Pulpotomies (resection of the affected pulp to preserve the vitality of the intact pulp tissue)

Apexogenesis

Apexification (inducing the formation of a mineralized root barrier in young permanent teeth with incomplete root development and necrotic pulp)

Internal resorption

Advantages:

Release of calcium ions - stimulates the formation of mineralized tissues; ensures a biological sealing of perforations and complete repair of damaged periradicular tissues

Biological action - ability to induce neoformation of periradicular cement

Easy to use - does not lose its properties in the moist intraoral environment

High alkalinity - bactericidal effect

Low solubility - does not disintegrate

Adequate compressive strength - can be used as a base for restorations

Higher radiopacity than dentin or bone tissue - increased visibility on xrays

Setting time - 15 min - immediate restorations can be made

The main component of MTA is calcium oxide, which, in contact with moisture in the oral environment, transforms into calcium hydroxide
