TruNatomy: an innovative, effective and complete root canal treatment solution that provides superior performance, debridement and debris removal while further respecting the anatomy of the root canal and preserving structural integrity.
The TruNatomy range is the latest creation from Dentsply Sirona. It is part of a tradition of successful endodontic treatment solutions offered by Maillefer and Dentsply Sirona.
TruNatomy's unique combination of features has been developed in partnership with experienced practitioners Dr. George Bruder (DMD) and Dr. Ove Peters (DMD, MS, PhD), leaders in the endodontic field, together with the Research and Development teams at Dentsply Sirona Maillefer. TruNatomy combines Swiss precision with advanced engineering to deliver the benefits of enhanced performance that more closely respects tooth anatomy*.
The new TruNatomy range offers:
Improved performance and effectiveness over ProTaper Next.
More space for debriding and removing the resulting debris.
Respects the natural anatomy of the tooth.
Preserves structural dentin, which helps maintain tooth strength.
Endodontic Access
Successful root canal treatment begins with adequate access to the pulp chamber. The ideal procedure provides access to the root canal openings with minimal loss of dentin.
Dentin retention serves as the critical foundation for a quality restoration following root canal treatment. The more dentin that is preserved during endodontic treatment, the more options there will be to achieve a successful and durable restoration.
Thus, an Endodontic Conservative Cavity (ECC) is recommended, although the TruNatomy system will work on any type of endodontically accessed cavity.
1. Channel Preparation: TruNatomy Orifice Modifier
The TruNatomy Orifice Modifier shapes the orifice to create the ideal access for TruNatomy Glider and TruNatomy Shaping needles. This needle helps preserve coronal anatomy due to the flexibility of the diameter and heat-treated NiTi alloy. It is also ideal for cases where the canal is not vertically oriented because it can enter the tooth from different angles. The TruNatomy Orifice Modifier is recommended in the basic TruNatomy sequence
2. (Glide Path): TruNatomy Glider
The effectiveness of root canal preparation is significantly improved when a reproducible sliding path is created. In this regard, the TruNatomy Glider system optimizes the glide path and allows for a smooth transition between K-Type and TruNatomy Shaping Needles.
TruNatomy Glider operates at a higher speed for better cutting efficiency with less torque. With only two sharp edges, it encounters less resistance and thus requires less applied pressure, providing precision with greater ease of use. Heat treatment provides greater flexibility with improved cyclic fatigue resistance.
3. TruNatomy Shaping
They are available in 3 different sizes and lengths to treat a wide range of cases. While the TruNatomy Prime needle is suitable for most cases, two additional modeling needles, the TruNatomy Small and TruNatomy Medium, are available to address smaller and larger canals.
3x more flexible than ProTaper Next
TruNatomy™ delivers superior efficiency
All three shaping needles offer a slim shape combined with a unique cross-section for better performance while providing more space for debriding upper debris.
The combination of needle geometry with regressive taper and thin, highly elastic steel allows for effective root canal treatment while removing only the clinically necessary dentin.
This means that access is now possible from different angles whereas until now a large sacrifice of tooth tissue was required to access canals directly (classic access cavity). TruNatomy removes only the clinically necessary amount of dentin while proper irrigation of the canal is possible. Cavity size is no longer a constraint, as the creation of smaller access cavities that still allow proper debridement is now possible.
Each TruNatomy needle progresses effortlessly down the canal, thanks to its unique design and flexibility, to give you complete control throughout the entire preparation.
You also won't feel the difference when changing TruNatomy needles, as tactile awareness is unchanged, resulting in a seamless transition when using the TruNatomy system.
TruNatomy for patient safety
TruNatomy needles provide increased safety because the risk of separation is reduced due to greater flexibility and increased resistance to cyclic fatigue.
TruNatomy saves you time
TruNatomy is an endo solution that is intuitive, straightforward and easy to learn. It also takes less time to use, allowing for better irrigation.
Slim needle design in NiTi: maximum 0.8mm diameter, instead of up to 1.2mm for most generic variable tapered needles
Centered cross-section
Operates at higher speed with less torque
TruNatomy further respects the natural anatomy of the tooth
The tool is made of special heat-treated NiTi wire which provides greater flexibility, allowing the needle to be pre-curved when needed. Due to its superior canal centering ability, the tool is designed to fit the canal and not the other way around.
