Buchanan (heat carrier) pluggers revolutionized the technique of hot gutta-percha condensation.

These high quality pluggers have a taper that perfectly matches that of the prepared dental canal. This maximizes the condensation forces on the gutta-percha without applying dangerous stress on the root.

Elements Obturation Unit, System B and Elements Free generate an exact temperature throughout the procedure, so Buchanan plugs do not cause excessive softening of the gutta-percha, which fills the lateral canals as easily as apical sealing. When the heat is turned off, the plugger cools almost instantly and easily separates from the condensed gutta-percha.
