Surgispon is a sterile, absorbable surgical hemostatic sponge made of pure pharmaceutical grade gelatin foam (freeze-dried hydrolyzed collagen), which gives it uniform porosity and neutral reactions. The hardened foam is cut, packaged and sterilised using gamma radiation. Surgispon can be used straight out of the package, ideal for use in the operating room. It does not require dry heat sterilisation or autoclaving.

Directions for use:

- Soak the cube in saline or use dry

- If dry, the sponge is slightly compressed. The sponge should be applied to the bleeding area with gentle pressure for 1-2 minutes until the bleeding stops.

- If wet, press sponge firmly to remove air bubbles, then place back in saline to store until ready to use.

- When the bleeding is controlled, the cubes can be left in place.

Surgispon can be used in combination with antibiotics, thrombin, chemotherapeutics, without reducing the hemostatic effect of the sponges. Read the instructions carefully before use.
