Ultradent's Opasescence Boost professional fast teeth whitening solution is chemically activated, so no light curing is required for whitening. By mixing, the product is activated even before it is applied. The gel is applied to the tooth directly from the syringe. Potassium nitrate and fluoride reduce sensitivity, increase enamel strength and prevent tooth decay.

Characteristics and advantages:

- fast effect

- no light-curing required

- PF formula strengthens tooth enamel, reduces sensitivity, prevents tooth decay

- precise application

- is easily visible for complete removal

All Opalescence products contain PF desensitising agents (potassium nitrate and fluoride) for extra comfort. Research has shown that potassium nitrate behaves identically to hydrogen peroxide in penetrating enamel and dentin, reaching the pulp of the tooth. Fluoride behaves primarily as a tubular sealant, blocking openings and slowing the flow of sensitivity-causing fluid. Potassium nitrate behaves more like an analgesic or anaesthetic, preventing repolarisation of the nerve after it has depolarised during the pain cycle.

TEETH WHITENING. - Questions about teeth whitening

There are many causes of tooth staining. Tooth discolouration can occur over time due to certain medications, due to dental trauma, due to root fillings or from eating and drinking certain foods and drinks. Some discolourations are superficial while others are internal. But both can be treated by a dentist. Professional teeth whitening treatment is the best option for safely whitening your teeth.

HOW DOES THE WHITENING PROCESS WORK?

The whitening process becomes possible "because of the ability of carbamide peroxide and perhydrol to pass through enamel and dentin and penetrate all the components of the tooth.

1. These substances break down into oxygen radicals, which migrate through the enamel prisms breaking down all the molecules responsible for colour change and causing tooth discolouration. The structure of the tooth is not affected; simply the internal colour of the teeth becomes lighter. The whitening agents break down into tiny molecules that spread in all directions, so that even when the tooth is not completely covered with whitening agents, it is whitened completely.

2. Numerous studies have proven the effectiveness of peroxide-based substances in teeth whitening processes.

Enamel, dentin, existing treatments and adhesive materials are not affected by bleaching agents or materials.

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR WHITENING TREATMENT?

Treatments will not be applied to children under the age of 12.However, there is no upper age limit .Older people, although they have the opportunity to significantly reduce the signs of ageing teeth, are not aware of the opportunities that whitening treatments can offer.

WILL WHITENING TREATMENTS AFFECT TOOTH ENAMEL?

Research on the Opalescence PF product line presented at the American Association for Dental Research confirms that whitening treatment with Opalescence PF minimizes sensitivity, improves resistance against decay, increases the microhardness of the enamel, and has positive effects on its overall condition.

DOES WHITENING TREATMENT INCREASE TOOTH SENSITIVITY?

Tooth sensitivity is a relatively common side effect of whitening treatment. If it occurs, it is a transient effect and will disappear after the whitening treatment is completed. However, all Opalescence products contain PF desensitising agents (potassium nitrate and fluoride) for extra comfort. Research has shown that "potassium nitrate behaves identically to hydrogen peroxide in penetrating enamel and dentin, reaching the pulp of the tooth. Fluoride behaves primarily as a tubular obturator, blocking openings and slowing the flow of sensitivity-causing fluid. Potassium nitrate behaves more like an analgesic or anaesthetic, preventing repolarisation of the nerve after it has depolarised during the pain cycle.

HOW LONG DOES THE BLEACHING EFFECT PERSIST?

The results of the treatment are extremely long-lasting but, depending on the patient's diet and lifestyle, the procedure may need to be performed periodically. However, thanks to the safety of whitening agents, this will not be a problem for the dentist or the patient.

WILL THE BLEACHING TREATMENT AFFECT THE STRENGTH OF THE DENTAL WORK?

Although whitening agents release a significant amount of oxygen to the teeth, existing dental work will not be weakened. If the bleaching treatment is applied before some work is carried out, it is recommended that it is carried out after 7-10 days. The high concentration of oxygen in the teeth could significantly affect the polymerisation of the resin.

IMPORTANT: SUPERVISION BY YOUR DENTIST IS THE BEST ROUTE TO WHITENING!

Tooth whitening treatments available today are effective and safe if applied properly and with the right materials. This involves early diagnosis, professional cleaning of the teeth, training in the chosen whitening process and patient supervision during the treatment phase. Often, patients who opt for individual application of treatments with products sold in pharmacies do not achieve the desired results. All products included in the Opalescence system are medical devices and are dispensed or issued only by dentists.
