Calcium hydroxide paste with iodoform for temporary root canal treatment
Calahyd - RC is an oil-based premixed calcium hydroxide paste containing iodofrom. The addition of iodophor to calcium hydroxide improves radio-opacity and adds an antibacterial agent to the paste. The paste does not harden, so the solubilised calcium hydroxide remains active in the root canal for a longer period of time. It is used for dental endodontic treatment.
Indications:
For pulp sealing and pulpotomy.
Apexification and hard tissue formation.
Temporary sealing material for infected root canals.
Can be used in conjunction with gutta-percha or other root canal sealants.
Directions for use:
After root canal preparation, clean and dry the root canal. Attach disposable needle to syringe and check flow of paste through needle.
Insert the needle into the canal, approximately 2 mm shorter than the apex. Completely fill the canal by pressing the plunger while slowly withdrawing the syringe.
Clean off excess paste with a sterile cotton swab.
Composition:
Calcium hydroxide
Iodoform
