Red Point - a smart post 

The new Red Point quartz fiber posts  are the evolution of the classic quartz fiber posts. The use of quality material and advanced technology allows the new quartz fibers for posts to be produced. Perfect transparency and very high mechanical strength, which sets this new product apart. The light passes through the post without obstacles, allowing perfect light curing of the cements directly in the root canal, thus achieving high quality cementing. The problem with traditional glass fiber or quartz fibre posts becomes apparent when they have to be removed from the root canal, their colour merges with the colour of the reconstruction and the colour of the tooth, making it impossible to distinguish the post perfectly. To remove the post you must use a drill, with the risk of irreversible damage to the tooth. The Red Point post is coloured in the centre, a really useful feature: if you ever need to reopen the root canal, following the red line will allow you to reach the end of the root canal without any risk. The coloured core of the new Red Point posts is created by using the same quartz fibres as the posts, in this way the post retains its mechanical characteristics. 

A 'light massage' prepares the surface in a homogeneous manner and increases the holding power by 40% more than traditional posts. The system also achieves thorough cleaning by removing any impurities from the fibre.

Through a perfect blend of quartz fiber and epoxy resin, a post of exceptional transparency and outstanding mechanical properties has been created.

The rendering process of this kind of transparency is extremely difficult and complex when epoxy resin is used. This is why many post manufacturers, who do not have the necessary knowledge or technology, avoid them, using instead vinyl or polyester resins, with which they achieve a discrete transparency, but which have significantly lower chemical and mechanical properties than epoxy resin.

The modulus of elasticity close to that of dentin makes epoxy resin the most suitable material to achieve a good strength of the reconstruction.
